Thank you for agreeing to be a beta reader! Before we send you the manuscript, please review and agree to the following terms:

 

Beta Reader Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

​

This Non-Disclosure Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into between R.B. Felton ("Author") and the undersigned beta reader ("Reader").

1. Purpose

The Author is sharing an unpublished manuscript (the "Work") with the Reader for the sole purpose of receiving feedback, critique, and impressions as a beta reader. The Work is confidential, unpublished, and protected by copyright.

 

2. Definition of Confidential Information

"Confidential Information" includes, but is not limited to:

• The manuscript in whole or in part

• All characters, plotlines, settings, themes, twists, endings, and world-building

• Any related notes, outlines, drafts, summaries, or discussions

• Any information about the Work shared verbally or in writing

 

3. Confidentiality Obligations

The Reader agrees to:

• Keep all Confidential Information strictly private and confidential

• Not share, copy, forward, upload, screenshot, quote, or distribute the Work or any portion of it

• Not discuss the Work with anyone other than the Author without written permission

• Not post about the Work on social media, forums, review sites, or group chats

 

4. Permitted Use

The Reader may:

• Read the Work solely for the purpose of providing feedback to the Author

• Take private notes for feedback purposes only (these notes must not be shared)

The Reader may not:

• Use the Work for personal, commercial, or creative purposes

• Adapt, rewrite, or create derivative works based on the Work

 

5. Ownership and Copyright

The Reader acknowledges that:

• The Work is the sole intellectual property of the Author

• No rights, licenses, or ownership are transferred under this Agreement

• All copyright protections apply, regardless of registration status

 

6. Return or Destruction of Materials

Upon request by the Author, or upon completion of beta reading, the Reader agrees to:

• Delete all digital copies of the Work

• Destroy any printed copies

• Permanently delete any notes that quote or reproduce the Work

 

7. No Obligation to Publish

This Agreement does not obligate the Author to publish the Work, nor does it obligate the Reader to complete feedback.

 

8. Breach and Remedies

The Reader acknowledges that unauthorized disclosure may cause irreparable harm. The Author may seek legal remedies, including injunctive relief and damages, if this Agreement is breached.

 

9. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

 

10. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties regarding confidentiality of the Work and supersedes all prior discussions.
